叔父さんの通夜が松戸の矢切儀式殿で行われる。
元高校の数学の先生とあって参列者は多い。私が高校時代に国語を習った先生も参列されていて、挨拶をする。そういえば私が高校3年の時、叔父と同じ高校に行ったのを思い出した。先生の花もあったから親しかったのだろう。
棺の叔父の挨拶をしたが、まるで別の人だった。死ぬと人はモノに変わる。まさに脱け殻。あれを見ると、たしかに人間には魂というものがあるのかもしれない・・なんて思ったりもする。
昼間は親爺の見舞いに行ったが、「敏雄もとうとう亡くなっちまったか」と寂しげだった。入院当時よりは元気にはなっていたものの、やはり実の弟が先に逝くというのはねえ・・・。
それにしても小暮家の親戚に会うのは、最近は専ら法事か葬式。それも最近は頻繁なのは困ったもの。しかし、これも誰もが通る道か。明日は告別式、疲れたので今日はもう寝る。

叔父が逝去・・・ & お通夜にて
Thought I let you know that I too received a prompt e-mail from our cousin informing of our uncle’s passing. The news was a shock and a grave sadness for me personally, even though I expected this for a quite sometime. Fortunately, my ‘pain’ is being eased by an abundance of outpouring of calls and e-mails I have been receiving from my friends once I shared my latest lose. I hope it is the same at your end.
Will write to both you and our cousin once things are settled a bit, and I manage to recoup my emotional strength. Best regards to my only uncle I now have and your mom.

Uncle Toshio was gone, but he had no pain in the last moment.
Reiko-chan & Kyoko-chan told us that he spent a good life with his hobbys. We never meet him twice, but this is is the world of our life.
My dad in the hospital because he got a little pnemonia, but he getting better now.
